Hockey season is officially here! The Tampa Bay Lightning, our hometown hockey team, recently kicked off the start of the season with their annual Fan Fest at AMALIE Arena. This annual event has grown in popularity every year since Jeffery Vinik purchased the Lightning in 2010.
Ajax and Buttercup loved the three periods of team scrimmage we watched from the lower bowl of the arena. 
We couldn’t get them away from the kids area,which offered them the chance to test their hockey and puck handling skills; we think that Ajax wants to pick up driving a zamboni as his newest hobby. Daddy really enjoyed the chance to purchase game worn gear in the arena concourse. The Lightning made the event memorable by making players available for autographs and selfie stations throughout the event.
The Tampa Bay Lightning is top of the NHL class, and Tampa’s most popular professional sports team. One reason for their popularity is how they value their fans and the community. They’ve invested in the arena to make it a world-class facility, and are active in a variety of community outreach programs. We can’t wait for the regular season to start and cheering the team on to another long run in the playoffs!!
